Most people are aware of the need for us to act more sustainably and to care for the environment in which we all live. This is an ethos that we apply not only to our own products and services but to the work we do for our customers. It has inspired us to make a big change to what we provide. For example, we have ceased screen printing and no longer provide printed PVC banners.

With our own products we have come to recognise the damage that some materials can do to the environment. Conventional cotton production is one case in point, relying on pesticides, insecticides and vast amounts of water.

In Bare Branding’s LOOP range we only use certified organic cotton, free from harmful pesticides. Not only is this cotton kinder to the environment, it is of a much higher quality too.

We also appreciate the problems of over-stocking of unwanted products. LOOP clothing and bags are made to order. This may mean you may have to wait a little longer to get your t-shirt or hoodie, but it cuts out waste.

We believe that slow fashion has to be the way forward and so it’s the approach we encourage in our customers too.

We have also taken steps to act sustainably with our labels and packaging. For example, when shipping our giclee prints we re-purpose old For Sale signs. These correx boards may have already had a long life in the property industry but their strength and lightness make them ideal for protecting valuable artwork in transit.

This recycled correx can be put to other uses too. At Bare Branding we’ve found they can be fashioned into boards for folding t-shirts. Maybe you can find a use for this material too?

We want to see our customers behave sustainably too, even if it means less work for us. We won’t take on jobs that we believe to be highly wasteful. Help in the prototyping of a new product is always on offer and, as with our own products, we prefer to see smaller runs driven by a just-in-time approach.

We also like to see materials being re-purposed. It’s always better that an item has a second use rather than ending up as landfill. It could be as simple as upcycling that scrap of fabric you’ve been keeping.
